Mate Care Tips πΏπ
β What should I do if the mate gourd is poorly cured?
This happens when the mate gourd becomes filled with mold. In this case, we advise discarding the yerba and filling the mate with boiling water up to the top. Let it sit for a few minutes.
Then, pour out the water and patiently scrape off the black layer that remains inside with a spoon.
Repeat the process of filling the mate with used yerba mate, let it rest for 24 hours, and when emptying the mate, be vigilant for any mold formation.
Prevention is key: To avoid mold formation, it's best to clean the mate gourd promptly after finishing. Rinse it thoroughly with warm water to remove any leftover yerba. Then, dry the interior well with kitchen paper or a clean, dry cloth.

βοΈ If the calabash develops mold, leave it in the sun for a few hours.
𧻠After each use, remove the yerba and clean the interior without wetting the leather. Place a paper napkin inside the calabash to absorb moisture.
β οΈ Never fill the mate gourd up to the metal part (rim) as it could cause water to seep through to the leather.
Keep your mate gourd clean and mold-free! β¨
